Modern Design Aquascaping
My name is John Adams and I would like to share with you the joy I experienced working with the Aquascape Foundation and the I.N. Network. Several times I had seen the pictures of the team that traveled with the Aquascape Foundation to the far reaches of the world. They were all smiling because they had chosen to help out those in need just because they could. I thought it would be cool to do something so selfless and I was so right!
Imagine a child getting his drinking water from a hoof print. Water with small wormy-looking creatures swimming in it. Water that keeps these kids sick. It is their only source of water and they drink after the cattle and the birds. They have no choice. We helped to change that for them, and the joy it brought me will live inside me forever! It changed me and they changed me.
I went with Carla and the crew to Uganda and then again later to Ghana. They let me come along because of my awesome skills operating a shovel! Seriously though, we are able to take skills that we have gained building water features in the States and use them to change the lives of thousands. We work like dogs, digging, trenching, hauling sand in buckets, whatever it takes to get the job done and the results are amazing! The conditions are tough (to us) and the tools are crude (again to us) but we always seem to hit our mark as we defy the odds. It’s amazing how we always seem to have what we need to get the job done with God in our wheelhouse!
In the process of building these projects, I have fallen in love with the people of Africa. The women and children in these villages express a joy for life that is difficult to convey. They work alongside of us day-in and day-out, helping us inch toward our goal, to deliver fresh, clean water to their people. Their joy and appreciation of what we do only inspires me to do more! I know in my heart that there is no other way for me to make such a real difference in this world, and I applaud Carla, The Aquascape Foundation, and The I.N. Network for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their “magic”!
